Wheeler Varsity Bearcats won big over Westville 9-1 on Tuesday at Wheeler High School. Wheeler Varsity Bearcats got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Nick Bravo doubled, and Nick Micciche grounded out, each scoring one run. Wheeler Varsity Bearcats added one run in the second. Caleb McLaughlin grounded out, making the score 3-0. Wheeler Varsity Bearcats added one run in the third. Jack Gaetz singled to center field, making the score 4-0. McLaughlin earned the win for Wheeler Varsity Bearcats. The starter allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out nine and walking five. Villarreal took the loss for Westville. The starter went four innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on three hits, striking out five and walking five. David Lindlow, Chase Yanek, Bravo, Freddy Gaetz, and Gaetz each collected one hit for Wheeler Varsity Bearcats. Micciche and McLaughlin each drove in two runs for Wheeler Varsity Bearcats. Wheeler Varsity Bearcats had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Bravo and Blake Laba led the team with two walks each. Bravo stole three bases.
