Wheeler Junior Varsity Holds Off Hobart

Wheeler Junior Varsity Bearcats Defeat Hobart Junior Varsity Brickies On Multiple Hit Performance By Jordyn Wenger By GameChanger Media Jordyn Wenger collected three hits in four at bats, as Wheeler Junior Varsity Bearcats defeated Hobart Junior Varsity Brickies 10-8 on Thursday. Wenger doubled in the first inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the fourth inning. Wheeler Junior Varsity Bearcats built a 7-run lead in the first inning and then held off Hobart Junior Varsity Brickies's charge. Hobart Junior Varsity Brickies closed the gap by scoring on a dropped third strike, a single, a solo home run, a double, and a pop out. Wheeler Junior Varsity Bearcats got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Wenger doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, a steal of home scored two runs, Aralyn Lawson singled, scoring one run, and Kennedy Hawkins lined out, scoring two runs. Wheeler Junior Varsity Bearcats added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Lilli Tancos doubled to center field, and Hobart Junior Varsity Brickies committed an error, each scoring one run. Tancos provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Wheeler Junior Varsity Bearcats with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Wheeler Junior Varsity Bearcats had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Skyler Statham and Skye Anderson Rodriguez led the team with two walks each. Wheeler Junior Varsity Bearcats stole five bases in the game. Hobart Junior Varsity Brickies piled up 11 hits in the game. Izzy Freeman, the number seven hitter for Hobart Junior Varsity Brickies, led the way with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Alexis Turley went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Hobart Junior Varsity Brickies in hits. Natalyn Queer and Ava Balboa each collected multiple hits for Hobart Junior Varsity Brickies. Alex Arredondo led Hobart Junior Varsity Brickies with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Queer and Balboa each stole multiple bases for Hobart Junior Varsity Brickies. Hobart Junior Varsity Brickies ran wild on the base paths, collecting seven stolen bases for the game.
