Big Third Inning Leads Kouts Past Wheeler Varsity Bearcats

Kouts scored six runs in the third inning, which helped them defeat Wheeler Varsity Bearcats 11-0 on Thursday. Kouts got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Wheeler Varsity Bearcats committed an error, and Jesse Overholt grounded out, each scoring one run. Kouts added one run in the second. Billy Miller singled to the left side of the infield, making the score 3-0. Kouts scored six runs on six hits in the bottom of the third inning. Noah Gudeman singled, scoring one run, Collin Breitzke doubled, scoring one run, Ben Finney singled, scoring one run, Miller singled, scoring one run, and Landon Garrett singled, scoring two runs. Asher Birky earned the win for Kouts. The hurler gave up zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking three. Caleb McLaughlin took the loss for Wheeler Varsity Bearcats. The pitcher went three innings, surrendering nine runs (five earned) on 10 hits, striking out none and walking three. Kouts collected 11 hits in the game. Miller and Garrett were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Kouts while hitting back-to-back. Miller led Kouts with four runs batted in. The infielder went 3-for-4 on the day. Next up for Wheeler Varsity Bearcats is a game at Hammond Morton on Saturday.
