Illiana Christian defeated Wheeler Varsity Bearcats 23-0 on Monday thanks in part to 15 runs in the first inning. Illiana Christian jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after an error scored one run, Jonathan Sitter singled, scoring two runs, Jake Scott doubled, scoring one run, Gabe Soto hit a grand slam to left field, Gavin Meyer singled, scoring two runs, Scott singled, scoring two runs, Nick De Block singled, scoring two runs, and Spencer Bandstra singled, scoring one run. Illiana Christian added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Scott singled to center field, Luke Passo singled down the left field line, De Block grounded into a fielder's choice, and Bandstra singled down the right field line, each scoring one run. A fielder's choice by #17 extended the Illiana Christian lead to 20-0 in the bottom of the third inning. Bandstra earned the win for Illiana Christian. The starter allowed three hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking two. Nick Micciche took the loss for Wheeler Varsity Bearcats. The starter went one-third of an inning, surrendering 14 runs (zero earned) on six hits, striking out none and walking two.
