The Wheeler Bearcats boys basketball team overcame a 9 point deficit in the 4th quarter to defeat the DeMotte Christian Knights 41-38 Saturday night. Wheeler was led in scoring by Nick Scott with 20 points. Scott also led the team with 7 rebounds on the night. Carter Blane led the team in assists with 5. Tyne Vettickal led the defensive effort with 4 steals, and Logan Fox added 3 steals as well. The Bearcats now have a record of 9-3 with ten games remaining on the schedule. The JV Bearcats were also victorious on the evening with a final of 41-23. Sean Schafer led the team in scoring with 10, Erik Diaz had 8, and Cash Kostbade added 6 points. The JV cats also have a 9-3 record with ten games remaining. The JV Bearcats will host Calumet in a Greater South Shore Conference boys/girls doubleheader this Thursday 1/23 at 7:00PM, and the Varsity Bearcats will travel to Calumet for their GSSC contest Friday 1/24 at 7:00PM.
