After only just more than two weeks of practice, the WHS Boys Swim Team lost their opening meet of the 2024-2025 season to a twice as large Highland HS team by a score of 58 to 99. This was a marked improvement over the Bearcat’s performance vs Highland last season when they were defeated 35 to 115. First place finishers were Tommy Emery on the 200 Freestyle and 100 Fly, and Randy Johnson, Stephen and Max Claussen, and Tommy Emery on the 200 Free Relay. Highlights of the meet were the 200 Free Relay teams also consisting of Christian Bouma, Titus Parrish, Ben Gutwein, and Ryan Stoner going One – Two taking first and second places in the event, Ayden Johnson getting a personal best in the 200 Freestyle, and the Medley Relay team of Christian Bouma, Titus Parrish, Stephen Claussen, and Chris Benefit already besting last season’s Medley Relay sectional pre-lim time. Greg Gillen also scored points for the Bearcats on the Backstroke. The Bearcat swimmers next meet will be on Tuesday December 3rd at Knox.
