On what turned out to be a beautiful Friday morning, the Wheeler boys' golf team came out on the short end of a spirited battle for 2nd place in the Greater South Shore Conference Tournament, shooting a 376 to finish 12 strokes behind Bishop Noll's 364. Illiana Christian won the tournament with a sizzling 313 on a wet Wicker Park course. The Bearcats were paced by sophomore Mark Gillen, who shot an 88, good for a First-Team All-Conference award. In fact, the other three members of this short-handed squad (we only traveled with four golfers that day), sophomore Jake Robinson, freshman Sean Schafer, and junior Caleb Klimczak, all earned Second-Team All-Conference nods.
