Bearcat Boy Swimmers Defend Conference Championship 10 Years in a Row!

On Saturday, the Bearcat Boys Swim Team successfully defended their GSS Conference Championship streak extending it to 10 years in a row! In a closely contested battle, Wheeler outscored North Newton and Griffith 267 to 249 and 243 respectively, as well as Calumet New Tech and Bishop Noll, both with 112, and Illiana Christian with 32. It was a full team effort with twenty personal best times recorded. Individual first place finishers were Drew Stoner in the 100 yard Freestyle and Tommy Emery the 200 yard Freestyle and 100 yard Backstroke. Relay first place finishers were Tommy Emery, Stephen Claussen, Calvin Paolone, and Drew Stoner in the 200 Free Relay. Also contributing critical points securing the Bearcat victory were Max Claussen in the distance events, Randy and Ayden Johnson in Freestyle and Backstroke, and Titus Parrish in Freestyle and Breaststroke. Key highlights were the Wheeler Freestylers as they dominated their opponents in the 100, 200, and 200 Free Relay events, and Tommy Emery breaking the Conference record in the 200 Freestyle for the second year in a row, this time by two seconds going 1.51.47. The Bearcats last home meet of the season is today (Tuesday) vs. conference rivals Griffith and Calumet. Come out and support your Bearcats and see some fast swimming!
