The JV Bearcats opened their season in impressive fashion with a 40-20 victory over Kankakee Valley. Offensively, the Bearcats moved the ball down the field with ease, finishing the game with over 300 yards of total offense. Bentley Simpson helped lead the scoring effort with two rushing touchdowns, while the offensive line consistently created movement up front and protected Ty Schafer to help the Bearcat offense to make plays. Defensively, the JV Bearcats came out on a mission and played together from start to finish. The defense emphasized getting 11 helmets to the ball, playing with great effort and rallying together on every snap. One of the biggest takeaways from the victory was the Bearcats’ “next man up” mentality. Players stepped into different roles, filled in wherever they were needed, and did what was best for the team. In their first JV game of the season, the Bearcats showed what can happen when everyone works toward the same goal. As the season continues, this group will look to keep building chemistry, improving each week, and playing together as one.
