Bearcat Volleyball Falls in Season Opener

The Lady Bearcats lost on the road to Morgan Township's Cherokees on Monday night. It was a long night as the match went all five sets and each game was single digit point differentials. After getting rid of some first set jitters the bearcats won sets 2 and 4 to send it into the tie breaking set 5. The girls showed up and played tough. They were led by senior captain and four year starter Izabela Schumacher who recorded 27 kills on the night. Following behind her was her opposite pin Brooklynne Jolliff with 11 kills. Dishing out the assists was Julia Newsome with 41 assists. It was a whole team serving effort with 5 players recording aces. (Schumacher - 2, Jolliff - 3, Newsome - 1, Laylah McNamara - 3, and Payton Arney - 2) Leading the defense was libero Laylah McNamara with 22 digs.
