Wheeler Athletics

The Wheeler Boys Soccer team came back after being down 1-0 at halftime to win a well-played match by both teams. The final was 2-1. Tyne Vettickal received a perfectly punted ball from keeper Spencer Schaberg and put the ball in the net to tie the match. Harper Schaberg scored the winning goal on a penalty kick a little later for the game winner. Spencer Schaberg, Jacob Franczek, Cooper Burton, Christopher Benefit, Calvin Paolone, and Jovanco Mizimak kept the match close with their outstanding defensive play. Louay Zeitoun got his first start of the season and helped the Bearcats control midfield along with Harper Schaberg and Blake Handley. Wheeler travels to Morgan Township for a match on Saturday, September 2. Kickoff is at 10 a.m.
