Wheeler Falls to Lowell, 60–45 The Wheeler Bearcats came up short Tuesday night, falling 60–45.. Wheeler trailed entering the fourth quarter but was able to cut the deficit to 40–38. The momentum was short-lived, however, as Lowell answered with a run of its own and pulled away in the closing minutes. Nick Scott continued his strong start to the season, pacing the Bearcats with 20 points while shooting an impressive 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. Ty Schafer and Logan Fox shared the team lead on the boards, each finishing with four rebounds, and Fox also led the team with three assists. Turnovers and second-chance opportunities proved costly for Wheeler, which committed 15 turnovers and surrendered 14 offensive rebounds—numbers that ultimately tipped the game in Lowell’s favor. In the earlier match up, Wheeler’s JV squad fell in overtime and drops to 1–2 on the season. The JV team returns to action Thursday on the road for a boy/girl JV doubleheader at River Forest. The Varsity Bearcats will open Greater South Shore Conference play Friday at home in a boy/girl Varsity doubleheader.
